This antique Victorian Sterling Silver Crescent Brooch has some of the most gorgeous old cut foiled-back paste stones I’ve ever seen - they absolutely SING in the sunshine, shade and any other light source they meet. Not all paste is created equal and these have a high lead content to their composition giving them that beautiful rainbow refraction when the light hits them. The fabulous old mine cushion cuts are in fantastic condition with the foil completely intact, zero darkening over time and mounted in exquisitely crafted cut-down collet settings.
This darling brooch is pretty substantial in size measuring 36mm x 41mm and 12.2 grams in weight. The largest stone is 8.5mm x 9mm with ten additional stones that taper down in size from the center. The silver setting has oxidized over time creating the perfect contrast against the bright white sparkling paste diamonds.
