This antique Victorian Book Chain Necklace is beautifully crafted in 9ct yellow gold (XRF tested 9.1ct) and is not only unique and totally original but also REVERSIBLE!!! The links are constructed with two individual panel pieces back to back. One side has lovely engraved detailing and the reverse side has a unique embossed texture both connected together with a barrel tube ring.
This style of book chain is extremely rare and I’ve only ever had one similar piece in the past. The design is super sleek, comfortable and is finished with a floating spring ring that can be worn in the front to hang a pendant or hidden in the back for a more seamless look. It has a wonderfully wearable length of 18.75” with a width of about 7/8” and the total weight is 29.7 grams of buttery yellow gold. I don’t know for sure if the spring ring clasp is solid 9ct or gold-filled because I forgot to have it x-rayed when I took the chain to be tested. There’s no signs of plating loss so I’m assuming it’s solid but just want to be completely transparent so there’s no surprises.
