This fabulous Victorian brooch is crafted in warm 14k yellow gold & silver in a symbolic wishbone design featuring a Diamond encrusted swooping swallow. The wishbone symbolizes luck while the swallow has been used to represent love, loyalty and safe return since swallows are known to mate for life.
The tip of the wishbone is set with a vibrant 4.75mm old cut Ruby and the swallow has an array of old rose cut Diamonds measuring around 1.25-1.5mm with two tiny rubies set for the eyes. The entire piece measures 29mm x 57mm with the swallow sized at 23mm x 25mm. Total weight is 7.5 grams. The color of the rubies leans a bit into the Sapphire side of classification but since it was sold to me as Ruby that’s what I’m listing as.
This piece looks phenomenal worn traditionally as a brooch but also can be used as a chain extender adding length to a necklace and curves beautifully around the neck adding a lovely visual statement with a pop of sparkle and color.
