Crafted from rosy yellow gold (XRF tested in multiple places between 9ct-18ct) this 18th century Georgian heart shaped Amatory pendant is gem-set with beautiful old flat-cut Almandine Garnets in the most stunning variety of red and pink hues. With incredibly intricate macerated hair paintings on either side of an Ivory wafer showing romantic scenes of trees, a house and windmill. The motto at the top reads “Le Gage De L’Amour” which translates from French to “The Pledge of Love” under a pieces of polished crystal on both the front and back.
Made in circa 1780 this charming pendant is in fantastic condition for its age with some decent wear and chipping to a few of the Garnets and some darkening around the bottom and sides of the Ivory backing. Measures 18mm x 27mm and has a total weight of 2.5 grams.
